FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
DO DOMES REQUIRE A BUILDING PERMIT?
Modular buildings differ from traditional buildings only in the technology of construction. They are subject to the same provisions of the construction law and the technical conditions to which buildings and their location should conform, so all the formalities of construction, including a building permit, are necessary. Always check local building codes before proceeding forward with your order and build!
WHAT ARE THE COSTS OF BUILDING THESE DOMES
Depending on how elaborate you want to make them will determine the end cost. Some will be lower than a standard home and some will be at the same level. But In-general, the cost is similar to traditional methods, but thanks to prefabrication the construction time is shortened, which can drastically reduce the total price.
DO YOU EVER HAVE SALES OFFERS?
In general, we try to keep the prices low but in rare circumstances, we could work with you depending on your needs, financial situation and etc. Feel free to connect with us if you have questions or special needs.
WHO WILL PREPARE THE PROJECT ?
The preparation of the initial technical documentation is handled by our design team, but we may need your cooperation to complete the project.
additionally, we will consult with you during the build process. But unless otherwise requested we will not participate in the build.
Any work needed beyond the initial sale like building the unit, providing hemp or other insulation, dealing with permits and etc can be provided at a negotiated fee.
CAN YOU BUILD THE DOMES FOR ME?
Yes, we can build your dome to a completed state understood as follows: the choice of materials and the degree of finishing of the building is strictly agreed with the client.
Your build could ALSO be customized but would require in-depth conversations. Here are just a few things to consider if we were to completely or partially build the unit for you.
- – foundations or foundation slab
- – roof
- – skylight
- – heating and ventilation chimney
- – ceiling, partition walls
- – interior clay plaster
- – doors
- – windows and sills (internal and external)
- – floor screed
- – installations: ventilation, water and sewage, heating and electricity (including sockets)
- – stairs with balustrades
WHAT IS NEEDED FOR SELF-ASSEMBLY OF MY DOME HOME
Along with the purchase, you receive an assembly instruction in which the step-by-step process of assembling the modules into a dome house is presented. The main equipment for assembly is HDS lift or crane.
Other equipment needed will vary depending on the type of build you are creating.
WHAT COMES WITH THE DOME KITS
Each Kit Comes With The Following:
– Wooden Construction Modules Made of Dried C24 wood
– Steel Joints Connecting the Modules to the Skylight Keystone and the Foundation
– Carpentry Screws for Assembling the Modules
– Windproofing Membrane
– Assembly Instructions
– A Pre Designed Architectural Design Plan as Seen in the Photos, Making this a ready-to-build unit. If you like the premade plan you go by its design and build this very quickly. We can modify this plan to meet your needs, if needed, as a separate transaction.
Other items like. finishing products (doors, windows, skylights and etc), different insulation packages (like hemp, wood wool, aircrete, custom and etc.), different exterior finishing and other items can be provided at an extra cost. These extras would be shipped with your dome and thus you would not have to deal with sourcing these items from a local supplier.
WHAT TYPE OF INSULATION CAN YOU PROVIDE?
We can provide hempcrete, wood wool, aircrete, and some custom solutions.
Each solution will/may have a different cost associated. Please tell us which option you would like for your dome home.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ORDER?
Shipping times and order creation time may vary depending on many factors.
But in general and unless otherwise stated you can expect the following:
- Orders are made to order and takes about 20 days from the purchase agreement date to cut your dome. (depends on current workload)
- Shipping will take 3 to 4 weeks and will be delivered to your door.
The more custom you make your dome the longer it may take. If you choose to use our designs and make no changes then that time will be cut down significantly.
WHY DO WE USE HEMPCRETE
Reducing energy costs
Hemp concrete has very good thermal properties, so it is no longer necessary to use additional thermal insulation. This creates excellent thermal insulation properties of this building material and ensures thermal comfort inside the building.
Healthy home
The lime contained in hemp concrete is an antiseptic material. Lime has a high pH and is inherently antibacterial and antifungal, and the lime coating around each piece of hemp in the mix, creates a surface that resists mold growth, even when moisture and temperature conditions would cause mold on other insulation materials. It is free of chemical contaminants.
Natural air conditioning
The high vapor-permeability of this building material allows the walls to breathe, which protects against damp rooms. Hemp concrete regulates the temperature and humidity in the house providing an optimal microclimate.
Very durable building
Hemp concrete interacts with the wooden structure, so to speak, in symbiosis. The wooden structure provides concrete with support, and hemp concrete protects the wood: it allows it to breathe – which ensures the long life of wooden elements The combination of hemp shavings with alkaline lime prevents the development of mold, fungi and possible colonization by insects and rodents. Hemp concrete is subject to carbonization turning gradually into calcium carbonate(lime rock)
Fire-resistant building
Hemp concrete is non-flammable, protecting the wooden structure from fire. When subjected to continuous fire, it shows little change in overburning and has been classified as a fireproof material.
Environmentally friendly
Hemp concrete is a natural, environmentally friendly material is fully recyclable after use. Compared to other building materials, we need much less energy to produce hemp concrete, so it is a low recycled material.
As a plaster for the interior of the dome, we recommend clay plaster because of the numerous pro-health properties of clay as well as the diffusivity that harmonizes with hemp concrete. We can paint such walls with natural diffusion paints obtaining any color from the color palette. Another proposed solution is the use of lime plaster or interior wood board.
The design of the dome house was developed with great care and attention to detail. It takes into account not only environmental concerns, but, above all, is a kind of combination of a return to nature and modern technology.
The outer structure of the building is formed from prefabricated modules, which are made at a specialized plant. The assembly of individual modules into the form of a dome is carried out directly on the construction site.
The prefabrication technology adopted is a guarantee of accuracy and short construction time. An additional advantage is that a dome house in our technology can be erected practically at any time of the year.
The construction of individual modules consists of spatial wooden trusses, the elements of which are joined together using both traditional carpentry joints and modern methods. The modules are connected by special locks. The filling of the wooden structure of the modules is wood wool or hempcrete.

INDIVIDUAL ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
We prepare individual designs of prefabricated modular houses. At the first stage, a conceptual design is prepared.
In order to start work on the individual project, the Investor provides us with:
– a map on a scale of 1:500 or 1:1000 covering the investor’s plot, the road from which it will be serviced, and the nearest neighborhood (e.g., a basic map) – electronic version (e.g., a scan)
– photos of the plot and the surrounding area
– local land use plan, in the absence of a local plan – information on the development conditions issued for the surrounding buildings
– a completed questionnaire specifying the needs and visions of the Investor (information such as building area, layout and size of rooms, preferred heating and ventilation system, landscaping, garage, parking spaces, etc., and material solutions)
– Reference objects and inspirations in the form of links or photos of buildings, rooms, small architecture, gardens or other forms of land development
On this basis, we hold a meeting (a teleconference is also possible). The investor receives a dedicated architect for cooperation. Having a set of information, we prepare a concept of the building, including solutions in accordance with the above information. The concept includes: the functional layout of the building (projection in dimensions) – with the indication of individual rooms, their functions, square footage, etc., visualization of the building from the facade, drawing the building into the plot plan with the preservation of access roads, front, back, etc. At this stage, of course, comments on the concept are possible.
